Ava at 8 Months

Our sweet little Ava is changing from an infant to a cruiser. I remember when Carys changed from a "swaddler" to a "cruiser" in diapers, it was so bittersweet and now it has come to pass with Ava. Ava has a whole new world to discover and has a big sister to lead the way. Ava is very curious, crawling everywhere to be a part of the action. She is pulling up to stand up.

Ava has learned how to back herself up from her belly to a sitting position and has very good balance. She has such good balance, she now takes baths with Carys. It is very cute to see both girls playing with all of the toys in the tub. We have a lesson in sharing every hour.

There is no doubt Ava looks like her daddy and has the prettiest blue eyes. They are a light blue with dark blue outline. Carys has medium blue eyes. It is neat to see how different our girls our. Here is Carys at the same age.

Ava was teething for a couple weeks, leaving us with little sleep but to our relief, the teeth broke! She now has 8 teeth, the 2 bottom ones from before were joined with the 2 top inscisors, one middle top, then the second middle top and all of a sudden two more on the bottom! Carys only had 2 teeth at this age. Lots of teeth for our hungry little Ava who has also started eating 2nd foods.

Ava can now hold her own bottle. We are loving her independence.

Carys at the same age.

We are also putting Ava in her bed at night for her to cry herself to sleep. She is learning to self soothe, which we hope will help in the future with easy bedtimes. She is doing great...and as Mrs Patty says "She is so good."

Here is the progression of our Ava over the past month becoming a cruiser.

Sitting up.

No one can stop me now.

Spring Break 2011

Spring Break 2011 marked our first family vacation. Our best friends, Rad and Jackie, bought a new house in Austin and it was planned we would go check out their new place. It was a wonderful visit. Carys loved playing with Charlotte and they got to play at the park twice. It was neat to see Carys try new things and be more adventurous.

The girls on their first sleep over, it lasted maybe 30 minutes before Charlotte joined us downstairs, but it was sweet while it lasted. Carys loved sleeping in the princess bed and playing with all of Charlotte's toys. Aunt Jackie did a great job of having activities for the girls, including Carys's first contact with playdough.

While we were at the park, Carys was trying new things, including a woobly ladder. She was so proud to do it "all by myself", that is her catch phrase right now. She wants to do things by herself, which is great. You also get a little of her cute humor..."Hi Camera."
