Strawberry Shortcake and Sour Grapes

My childhood favorite doll was Strawberry Shortcake. My room from the curtains to the sheets to my eating utensils donned Strawberry Shortcake. I had every doll and the gorgeous doll house with all of her berry nice furniture and the Strawberry Shortcake big wheel to get me to my friend's house. So when TJ said Carys should be a strawberry for her first Halloween, I felt a theme coming on. Maya would be Strawberry Shortcake with her green and white leggings and Macy would be Sours Grapes, her nemesis. How fitting....When we heard Harborwalk was having a Halloween dog costume contest, we knew he had to enter the girls. Luckily Grandma Cathy was in town to help coordinate our berry sweet bunch. Here are a few of the other contestants.
We were enjoying the sunny and cool weather, waiting for the votes to be counted.
It takes teamwork to keep a baby, a nervous shaking Chihuahua and a German Shepherd that wants to attack a little white dog happy. Plus someone had to get all the great pics! Thanks TJ. Grandpa James with Strawberry Carys, Lauren with Strawberry Shortcake Maya and Grandma Cathy from Florida with Sour Grapes Macy.
In third place, Texans Quarterback Schaub.
In second place...Batman.
And the winner of the 2009 Harborwalk Halloween Dog Costume Contest...Macy Markiewicz as Sour Grapes. I am berry proud, trophy and all!
